Mid-Week Update

Good morning,

I wanted to send out some additional reminders about this weekend and the two performances we have.

Friday Night (Dempsey Night)

Students will stay after school on Friday to rehearse and welcome the 8th grade students before the game. We will also be performing a runthrough of our show after the game, so please stick around! 

Students should bring the following with them to school that day:

Band:

• Compression Shirt
• Black shorts (under uniform)
• Black Ankle Socks
• Black Marching Band Shoes

Color Guard:

• Black Leggings
• Make-up
• Other Uniform Needs

Food Donations for Friday Night:

We are so excited for our Dempsey Band members to join us Friday for dinner and the game. We need a few food items to complete the meal as well as a few volunteers to help set up/serve/clean up. If you are able to help , please use the link below.

Saturday Competition (Buckeye Invitational)

This Saturday is our next competition at OSU for the Buckeye Invitational. Students will need to report to the High School at 9:45 a.m. for a rehearsal and to get ready for the day. Please make sure to arrive with everything needed for FULL UNIFORMS. (Please do NOT wear your compression shirts for rehearsal) Students will also need to bring a change of clothes for after the competition. Please make sure all clothes are school appropriate.

We will also be feeding the band lunch before leaving for the Buckeye Invitational on Saturday. We need a few food items as well as parent volunteers to help set up/serve/clean up. If you are able to help, please use the link below.

Parent Information about the Competition:

Because this is a much longer day, any student who DOES NOT wish to stay may be picked up by a parent/guardian after our performance. Those students who wish to do this must bring a signed parent note by the Friday before the Invitational. Parents will then need to meet their student at the buses and sign out with Mr. Fowles/Mr. Wilkins. Parents will need to meet our students at our buses after our group picture and sign them out with Mr. Fowles. Students will be responsible for getting equipment/uniforms home from the competition.

Buckeye Invitational Ticket Information Cost & Purchase Location: 

The tickets for the Buckeye Invitational will be sold online at go.osu.edu/BI2026 until October 1st or at Ohio Stadium at GATE 5 (on the Northwest side of the Stadium). The cost will be $20.00 online and $25.00 at the gate (Credit Card or Cash – EXACT CHANGE ONLY). Kids 6 & under are free and parking is included in the ticket price. Ohio Stadium A, B, & C Decks will be open on the west (press box) side of the stadium for all spectators and all seating is general admission for bands and the public. Students and fans may exit and re-enter Ohio Stadium at any time. Please retain ticket stub for re-entry. 

Concessions: 

Concession stands on the west (press box) side of the stadium will be open throughout the day. Concessions in Ohio Stadium are now CASHLESS. No cash will be accepted at any stand. Personal food and beverages are not permitted inside Ohio Stadium. Please keep this in mind when planning for the day!

Merchandise:

You are encouraged to pre-order your merchandise if interested in getting a shirt/sweatshirt. All orders must be completed between Sept. 21st through Sept. 27th and can be picked up at the Buckeye Invitational. No orders will be shipped. There will also be day of sales, however they will have a limited number of sizes. You can view/order at the following link.

Parking for the Event:

Spectators can park at either the Lane Ave or Tuttle Garage. Parking is also available on the NorthSide of St. John’s Arena. I’ve included a parking Map that also shows where our Buses will be located. We won’t know the exact location until we arrive on Saturday.

Questions about Seating:

Seating at the Stadium is general admission on the West side of the stadium. There should be plenty of seats in the lower bowl (A Deck), however C Deck will also be available if you’d like a higher vantage point. Once we are done performing, ALL students will sit together in section 17A.
