Given the number of students and staff sick at Hayes right now, we have decided to cancel Tag Day for Saturday, October 15, 2022. We will reschedule, but do not yet have a firm date. Help your band students get healthy and we will keep you up-to-date.
Band parents: Take care of yourselves, too! Stay hydrated and take your vitamins.

Tag Day is Back!
This year’s seniors last participated in Tag Day in 2019. COVID-19 forced us to take a hiatus, so this is a refresher/crash course in all-things Tag Day.
Tag Day is a mandatory event for all marching band members. This year, Tag Day is Saturday, October 15, 2022. Report time is at 9 a.m. in the band room, please wear a band T-shirt and jeans or shorts (no short shorts). At report time, we will go over the rules of Tag Day. The teams will then go out in the community, going door-to-door from 10 a.m. until about 2 p.m. with a grab-and-go pizza lunch provided at noon.
What Is Tag Day?
Tag Day is when the marching band members go door-to-door all over the city of Delaware asking for donations. It is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year.
Parent Volunteers
Of course, we can’t have a successful Tag Day without the help of the parents! Below is the parent volunteer help needed:
- 20 parent drivers (NO STUDENT DRIVERS)
- 5 parent money counters
- 4 parent lunch servers/clean-up (pizza & drinks)
Each team will consist of one parent driver and however many band members will fit in the vehicle, generally between 4 and 6.

Band Members
Tag Day volunteers will be at practice the Monday before Tag Day (October 10) so you can sign up your team with an adult driver.
